Color Red

1. If I was describing the color red to a blind person I would try and describe it through their other senses. Imagine when you listen someone screaming of pain that is how color red would be. If you had to taste color red you would have to take a bite of an habanero chili, and that is the taste of an intense red. Now, if you want to taste a light red then you would have to eat a cherry. If you would like to touch the color red then you would have to carry a hot cup of coffe that is how red would feel like. If you smelled a strawberry that is how red would be. This is how I would describe the color red to a blind person. 

Competition

2. In my society there is a competition but it is a healthy one. The competition is for who gets accepted in the best universities, and for that you have to get very good grades. That is the competition is fought everyday when we go to school and who ever decides not to study they eliminate themselves from the competition. This is a good thing for us who do want to go to a good university, beacuse there are less students that are planning on going to a university. Between some nations there are competitions that are very unhealthy and that could kill people. For example, USA and Al-Qaeda have a very strong competition and this competition could lead up to a war.

Vocabulary

3. What I have taken from my wonderful english class to my nonacademic life is all the vocabulary words. Every week I get five different power verbs and tone words and have to memorize them for a test. Since I memorized some of the words, now when I am talking with my friends or family I use those words that I have memorized. When I talk with those power verbs my friends stare at me and tell me, "Wow come down we are not in school no more." This makes me feel very intelligent and superior too. 

Abraham Lincoln

4. If I could go back in time and be someone in history I would definitely would choose to be Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States of America. Lincoln had very little education and was from a poor family, but he managed his way through and became a lawyer in Illinois then he was the leader of the country. Abraham Lincoln also did something very significant he put an end to salvery and freed almost all black people in his time period. Now, Lincoln is rememberd by everyone of us for what he did on his time period. This is why if I would go back in time I would like to be Abraham Lincoln.   

Clean Water

5. If I had 1 million dollars to spend on a project to improve living conditions I would spend that money on making some African communities have clean water to drink. Some African communities don't have clean water to drink. They drink water from the nearest pond or lake where animals had died and this can cause many diseases. Other people have to walk for miles in order to get clean water, and I think that with this project I would be helping many people. The project will consist on having water pipes underground in order for these people to get clean fresh water when ever they want. This will eliminate bad living conditions and might even extend a persons life. This is what I would do if I had the money to improve there living conditions. 

Changing the World

6. The way I am trying to help my nation from global warming is by throwing trash into the trash cans. I don't understand how people throw trash to the ground, I mean this is where we live. How can you live in a place full of trash, its just simply gross. I try to help out by throwing trash where it suppose to be thrown at, in the trash cans. I also recycle, that helps out too. By throwing trash to the trash cans we help on global warming and this also takes away diseases. If a place is full of trash it can cause bad problems to health. By throwing trash away correctly I think I am helping my nation.

Primitive Culture

7. If I had the chance to introduce a new material thing to a primitive culture it would be a computer. I would introduce a computer because I think that the computer is a very useful thing to have at this period of time. A computer is a very useful machine to have, with it you could do soo many different things. With a computer you have access to anything you want to know about. If you live in Chula Vista and want to know what is the weather in New York you could now right away. With a computer you can saty in touch with your frinds through social networks. Also, if you are bored and have nothing to do a computer has games that you could play. This is why I would introduce a computer to a primitive culture.

Never Give Up!

8. If I had to describe myself using a quotation I think it would be, "Never give up." I think this quotation really describes me because I am a person who always fights for what I want. I am a person who will always try to fight and even though I know it may be almost impossible to get what I want I will never stop unitil I had done everything to try and achieve it. This quote relates to me because I remember one day that I had to play 3 soccer matches in 1 day. I had already played 2 of the 3 we had to play and by the third game I was exhausted and didn't want to play no more. I told to myself, I have to go play and win this match in order to go to Vegas and play the tournament. So I did, I went on and played the gave even though I didn't feel my legs at all and we won the game and advanced to Vegas. This is why I think this quote fits perfectly to me.   

A New Holiday

9. If I had the authority to establish a new holiday it would be on September 17 and it would be called, The Born of a Beatiful Flower. The reason of the holiday being on September 17 is because that day is the birthdate of my mom. My mom has done soo much things for my that I had to give her something back in return. On every September 17 my mom wouldn't have to do nothing because its not only her birthdate but its her holiday too. I would take all downtonw Chula Vista and make a big parade dedicated to my mom. In the parade there will be food from all over the world. My mom will be receiving presents from everyone in the community. In the parade there will be famous people singing to her and to all the people assisting. There will be games for everyone and at the end it will end with some pyrotechnics. This is what I would make if I had the authority to make it.  

Best Advice

10. One of the best advice I could ever gotten was from my mom. She told me that I would never win over a teachers decision and that I shouldn't be arguing about it because it would only make it worse. My mom told me this after I was suspended for aguing with an assistant principle at my school. It all started because a teacher, close to where I hang out during lunch, said that my friends and I were making too much noise. The AP told us that we had to move to a different place, so we did. The AP told us that the spot we had chosen was alright. After a couple of weeks the same teacher complained again that we were making too much noise even though we had already moven away from her classroom. The same AP came and told us again that we had to move even though she had said that that place was alright. So I told the AP that I wasn't going to move from a place she had said it was ok for us to hang out. The AP told me that we had to move if not we were going to suffer the consequenses. I answered to these like this, "so if I go and tell you that you have to get out of your office just because, are you going to do that?" The AP didn't answered back to me and walked away. I thought she was not going to do nothing to me but a security came and took me to the office. Then the AP came to the office and told me that she wanted to see me ID, I gave it to her. After I gave the ID to her she told me, "ok I will talk to you later to see what I am going to do to you and to give your ID back." After 3 weeks I didn't get my ID back and she suspended me for 3 days.     

One Important Question

11. One important question I would like for universities to ask me that I think they wouldn't ask is: What will you be doing in the next 20 years from now? I would answer to this question by saying that I would be working as a cardiologist and getting paid around 100 dollars an hour. I would also say that I would be living in Miami Florida, in a two story house with an ocean view and with my wife and kids. I would be driving my red Ferrari to work and when I am planning to go out with the family I would take the family car which would be a black Escalade. I would also tell them that I would be one of the best know cardiologist around the world. This is what I would say if a university asks me this question.

Movie

12. First of all, I think that my movie would be full of action because that is how I think I live my life. It would beging by showing me gettiing ready to go to my cousins house in Tijuana. After I was done getting ready I would take off in my 2009 black Chevy Sliverado listening to some music to pick up my cousins. From there I would be going to my friends house over in Playas de Tijuana where the party would be taking place. After arriving to the house it would go to the next morning without showing what hapened last night. Then, I would be waking up with a headache and very thirsty, and for that reason I would be heading to eat some seafood at the seashore of Playas de Tijuana. As I am eating my shrimp cocktail and some oysters I decide to give a call to my cousin because the last thing I remember was that I saw him leaving the house, but he didn't answer the phone. By this time the first 15 minutes are over so I think I am done writing too.     

Roommate

I heard that we are going to be roommates, and for this reason I wanted to introduce my self so that you have an idea of what I am like. First of all, my name is Oscar Acosta and I am 19 years of age. I considered my self to be a very nice person to get along with. When I am borred I like to listen to some music especially corridos or norteño. My favorite sport is soccer. As you can tell by the music I listen to and the sport I like, you may notice that I am Mexican. I hope that we can get along and become very good friends.

Reactions/Ideas Towards Quote

14. When I listen to the qoute, "He does not possess wealth, it possesses him", the very first thing that comes to my mind is famous people. A lot of famous people have a lot of money and they don't konw how to manage soo much money that they make a bad usage of it. Instead of doing something for their community they decide to go on drugs. Drugs is an addiction and since these kind of people have money to buy the drug they keep on using it. There has been cases where people overdose and die. This quote is very true because money chnages people, some times its a good change but in some cases its not.

FREE BOOKS!

15. If I was a millionare, one of the most valuable contributions I could make to a college campus is to give free books to students. This would be very valuable because books are very expensive and some students need to buy more than one book and each book is about 100 dollars minimum. Some students even fail their classes becuase they decide not to buy the book, because its to espensive. By giving out free books I think I would be helping more students pass their classes and be more prepared. This is why I think that giving out free books woukd be an excellent contribution.

A Significant Experince

16. One time I was taken to prison with two of my cousins, because we got in a fight and the police took us all. We were at my friends quinciañera and it was around 1:30 A.M. We were going home and some guys came to us and started to argue with us. My cousin didnt like that so he threw a punch and we all started to fight. The police came and handcuffed us all and we were put in the car. I was put into prison for like about 8 hours. I had to spend the night there in prison and it was not good at all. The next morning my uncle had to come and paid in order for us to be free. This was a significant experience for me because now I know how it is to be in there. I will always think twice before doing something that will lead me up for this again.
